Taiwan has a birth rate of 5.76 (annual births per 1,000 people) and a fertility rate of 0.89 (the average number of children a woman is expected to have over her lifetime based on current age-specific birth rates).

In 1960, the fertility rate in Taiwan was 7.04 children per woman — 7.95 times higher than in 2024.
